Overview

This is the third edition of this Aide-Memoire which was originally published in 2018. A second edition was published in 2020. For this third edition, content has been updated to reflect the evolution in the Security Council’s practice up to August 2024. This edition also includes additional and relevant WAM-related recommendations made by the Secretary-General to support the Council in further enhancing its actions on the matter.

The main body of the Aide-Memoire (and its supporting Annex 1) is based on a review of more than 773 UNSC country/region-specific and thematic resolutions, as well as relevant presidential statements issued since the end of the 1990s.
